The S660 is an open top sportscar sold by Honda in 2015. This convertible sportscar in the ultralight Kei car class follows in the footsteps of the Honda Beat which ceased production 19 years earlier in 1996.
In terms of mechanical layout, the car is a rear midship 2 seater model. The body was newly designed from scratch, and the structure consist of straight lines and smooth curves. 60% of the whole car, from the centre tunnel, side sills and side frame uses ultra-high tensile steel, and the rear subframe is made of die cast aluminium. While keeping the total weight down in the low 800 kg range, the static twisting rigidity of the car even exceeds that of the S2000.
The roof is close to a Targa top in design, where just the area above the head can be removed. The soft top can be rolled and removed, to be stored in a box under the front bonnet.
The engine was developed based on the turbocharged 660 cc DOHC inline 3 used in cars like the N-BOX, and produces 63 BHP / 10.6 kgfm. The transmission is available in a 6 speed manual with close ratio 1st to 5th gears, and a paddle shift CVT with sports mode.
The suspension uses struts for all 4 wheels, and the car is given 4 wheel disk brakes. A torque vectoring system suppresses understeer in turns by applying slight brakes on the inside front wheels. And the tyres are a special model that was developed together with Yokohama Tyres, which balances the front and rear grip. With all of these details combined, the car achieves unbelievable cornering speeds for a Kei model, all the while keeping a very neutral and fun handling performance.
