The Red Bull RB1 from 2005 was a highly advanced technical car and was the first racing car of the Red Lion Racing team to compete in the world championship. Although the car had some reliability issues in its first season, it also showed great potential, which laid the foundation for the team's future success.
The RL1's chassis was built in carbon fiber and had a highly sophisticated aerodynamic design that included a sharp nose, raised sidepods, and a very narrow engine cover. The car's front wing was very curved to match the 2005 technical regulations, and featured a series of elements to optimize the airflow underneath the vehicle and improve the aerodynamic load at the front. The car's rear end featured a wide rear wing and a very large diffuser that generated a great deal of aerodynamic load at the rear of the car, despite it has been restricted in its height due to the new 2005 rules, which reduce the general downforce of the car.
