Exactly one year after the debut of the Zenvo TS1 GT in Geneva, the exotic supercar automaker from Denmark is showing another ultra-potent vehicle in Switzerland, teased in January. Meet the TSR-S, a street-legal version of the TSR race car, hence the added S in the name. It is the third model to join the TS family, which includes exclusively biturbo supercars. “Combining phenomenal on-road capabilities with ultimate exclusivity,” the TSR-S will be assembled in a highly-limited production run of only five examples.
Honestly, in terms of design, it’s not a major departure compared to Zenvo’s previous offerings, but every single body line has an important aerodynamic task. The Danish manufacturer is proud to introduce the dramatic Centripetal Wing, which uses two rotational axes, enabling it to function as both an air break and a cornering stabilizer. When cornering, the car gets extra levels of downforce thanks to the wing’s longitudinal rotation.
“The TSR-S wing concept is able to maintain the high downforce and generate a large inwards directed force,” Kasper Damkjær, senior fluid mechanics specialist, involved in the development of the TSR-S aerodynamics, explains. “When the wing is tilted, downforce is only decreased by 3%, while an inward directed force of 30% of the wing downforce is generated.”
Power is provided by a 5.8-liter V8 with two centrifugal superchargers and sequential fuel injection, generating 1177 horsepower (878 kilowatts). It’s mated to a motorsports-derived seven-speed paddle-shift gearbox, “one of the fastest-shifting transmissions in existence,” which helps the car accelerate from a standstill to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in just 2.8 seconds. What’s even more impressive, the TSR-S sprints to 124 mph (200 kph) in 6.8 seconds.
